INTENSIVE TRAINING

The training will take place in Salamanca and Lisbon (and occasionally, in other locations), or online, in the form of courses ranging from 2 to 5 days.

The teaching staff include Ana Maria Fernandez Espinosa and José Marques (accredited trainers) as well as António Vicente (IPTN board member and member of Teatro Imediato, Portugal) and by special invitation, experienced and internationally renowned teachers such as Aviva Apel-Rosenthal (Israel).

The training programme has been designed in accordance with the standards set by the Centre for Playback Theatre but has been adjusted to suit the local social/cultural context, and as much as possible will also take account of the backgrounds of the students attending the courses.

Training Levels

Level 1 – Basic training, including history and social context, resources, values and ethics, key concepts, performance structure and forms, social interaction, team and improvisational skills, and applications of Playback Theatre (around 30 hours of training).

Level 2 – Special topics, including conducting, acting craft, musical and ritual, the inclusive group and other selected topics (around 18 hours of training per topic).

Level 3 – Advanced practice, including advanced practice of forms, performance rhythm, physical and vocal expression, stagecraft, relationship with the audience, group leadership, and community action. This level generally involves training of up to 60 hours duration.

Level 4 – Leadership skills, with this training being delivered by the Centre for Playback Theatre. For more information see the Centre for Playback Theatre

Prerequisite

Completion of Basic Training (Level 1) or 6 months experience in a Playback Theatre Company.
